Loughborough or London Campus? How to Choose the Right Location for Your Master’s
Compare Loughborough University’s main campus and London campus for your Master’s. Explore course availability, accommodation, campus facilities, student life, and living costs to choose the location that best matches your academic goals, lifestyle,e and budget.

The university name is only one part of your decision—the campus changes your experience. At Loughborough University, choosing between the main campus in the East Midlands and its London campus means choosing between two different postgraduate environments, course portfolios and day-to-day budgets.
Loughborough’s main campus is a large, single-site university setting with extensive sports, science and engineering facilities. Loughborough University London is a postgraduate campus based at Here East on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with a focus on collaboration, enterprise and links with organisations in the capital. Neither location is automatically better. The right choice depends on the exact course, your budget and the kind of student experience you want.
First, understand the two locations
Loughborough campus: a large university setting in the East Midlands
The main Loughborough campus covers 523 acres. Teaching buildings, halls, sports facilities, shops, cafés, the Students’ Union and green spaces sit within one connected university site. Its facilities include STEMLab for science and engineering teaching, specialist workshops, DigiLabs, a large library, two gyms, a 50-metre swimming pool and a wide range of sports facilities.
The Loughborough Science and Enterprise Park is home to more than 90 organisations and over 2,500 people, creating an innovation and research environment alongside the university.
Loughborough University London: a postgraduate campus in East London
The London campus is located inside Here East, on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It is designed around postgraduate study and sits within a wider community of businesses, creative organisations, start-ups and education providers.
Its facilities include purpose-built lecture theatres and seminar rooms, a library, campus café and Future Space, an innovation and enterprise hub with flexible collaborative work and event areas. Stratford International is within walking distance, and the campus is connected to the wider city by public transport.
The London campus has a different scale and feel from the main site. Students are part of a specialist postgraduate environment in a major city, rather than a large university campus where most facilities are gathered in one place.
Which master’s programmes are available at each campus?
Do not assume that a course offered at one location is automatically available at the other. The university’s current master’s directory lists campus-specific programmes and distinguishes between similarly named courses.
• Loughborough campus examples in the 2027/28 directory: Advanced Chemical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Monitoring, Research and Management, Sports Engineering and International Security.
• London campus examples: Law (LLM), International Relations, Public Policy, Cyber Security and Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, International Sustainable Development and Sport Business and Innovation.
• Courses listed at both campuses include Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Sport Management and User Experience and Service Design. Check the campus-specific course page: a shared title does not prove that modules, teaching approach or fees are identical.
